About the SGN

Following a successful meeting at the Who Do You Think You Are? Live event in London in February 2012, a small group of professional genealogists in Scotland decided to keep meeting informally on a monthly basis at various locations across the country. The Scottish Genealogy Network was born.

Our meetings have largely been held on the last Saturday of each month, with our purpose being to try to create a wider genealogical network within Scotland, where colleagues can meet face to face, share expertise with each other and with others from related disciplines that impact on our work, such as family history societies, universities, archives and more.

There is no joining fee and no membership criteria other than that members must work professionally within the Scottish genealogical industry, whether as a professional researcher, archivist, librarian, course tutor or an associated discipline.

If you are working professionally within the area of Scottish based family history, we would be delighted to see you at one of our meetings! Our present secretary, Emma Maxwell, can be contacted at scotsgenenet @ gmail.com. The group is also on Facebook and Twitter.
